You have to like this simple, robust and barren landscape of Basilicata. Today I know that I have a privilege: being born there.
Grown up in Germany, living with my family in Switzerland for more than 30 years, the "umbilical cord" to my homeland has never really been separated.
Since childhood I have been aware of the special taste of traditional, unadulterated products from my homeland. Over the decades, enthusiasm has become a passion. Whenever I can, I am with relatives and friends in Matera and Grottole, help them with the wine and olive harvest and every time I am the "little Mimmo" who rides on the back of a donkey with his grandfather in the olive grove. Time seems to have stopped there. Still today the production methods hardly differ from the traditional cultivation practiced for centuries.
Tradition, the simplicity and honesty of people, respect for nature and the certainty that only ecologically sound fertilizers, no pesticides and herbicides are used, have prompted me to include these products in our programme and thus to make my self-imposed task of being an "ambassador" for the products and people of my homeland a reality.
